Highlighted in our East Gallery is painter Pamela Fishkin Hero with her exhibit “The Seasons.” Pamela states “I have had the pleasure of experiencing and observing the seasonal changes. Pulling from this familiarity, while also exploring the concept of time and its effect, a series of twelve mixed media paintings on paper titled, “The Seasons,” was created.

Our West Gallery boasts the talents of Dana Hatchett presenting his “Drawings of the Historic Erie Canal.”

Dana states “In 2016, my friend Hugh Pratt was discussing promoting his play “Clinton’s Ditch,” for the Erie Canal’s upcoming 200th anniversary. After hearing his enthusiasm, I went to the Buffalo History Museum and looked at photographs of the Erie Canal from the late 1800s and early 1900s. I fell in love with the architecture, the boats, and the shape of the canal in the old photographs. Using pencil, conte crayon, and charcoal, I started drawing from these images, as well as images from other historical museums, and the more I drew the more I loved this era.”
Come and enjoy Dana’s historic artwork and note our Main Stage will host a special performance of “The Erie Canal Concert” by Dave Ruch on May 16, 7 p.m., that coincides with this exhibit and celebrates the Canal’s bicentennial, 1825-2025.

Showing in our Arts Café is a special exhibit for Earth Month 2025 entitled “Protectors: Saving Biodiversity in the Age of Extinction.” This is a series of prints on loan by Ron Blackmore with accompanying photographs by Wells Horton in tribute to Olaus and Mardy Murie.
“Protectors” is a portfolio of 12 three-color 11″ x 17″ screen prints depicting scientists and organizers from across the United States who are working to protect biodiversity, alongside images of the extant species they protect, and the extinct species that we are too late to save. Images are created by the members of the Justseeds Artists’ Cooperative in collaboration with the Center for Biological Diversity.
To accompany the "Protectors" exhibit, Sherburne photographer, Wells Horton, photos focus on the conservation work of Olaus (1889 - 1963) and Mardy Murie (1902 - 2003). Olaus and Mardy Murie were pivotal figures in the American conservation movement, and their efforts had significant impacts on animal species such as Elk, Caribou, and others through their advocacy for wilderness preservation and sound ecological principles. Join us to learn more about these stories through Wells’ impactful photography and catch Wells at the Sherburne Arts Festival this June 14 where he is this year’s Featured Artist.
